Sarah Al-Batouti, entrepreneur and United Nations ambassador for climate change, said that Egypt is keen to implement the green city system, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and within the framework of the state’s interest in climate change problems and Egypt’s hosting of the major global event “COP27”, which will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh. next November.

Al-Batouti indicated that the “green buildings” program is one of the main axes that will be highlighted at the COP27 Climate Summit, with regard to the development of sustainable cities and green architecture, as well as rural and agricultural areas and various villages, to achieve the goals of sustainable development. During the participation of “Al-Batouti” in a special episode of the “South of Egypt Narrative Summit” dialogues, “Sustainability Kickoff”, which coincides with the Egyptian state’s preparations to host the COP27 climate conference.

Green infrastructure development

Al-Batouti explained that the state is striving to develop green infrastructure for citizens, including solid waste and sanitation, urban roads, lighting, environmentally friendly urban transportation, and energy efficiency in the electricity infrastructure, in accordance with the standards of green cities, in order to provide comfort, safety, and speed for citizens. .

Al-Batouti stated that her role as a UN ambassador for climate change is focused in this conference on building bridges for communication between these different sectors and between decision-makers, and strengthening relations and linking between agencies, institutions, companies and individuals to deliver ideas and aid and develop them in a way that serves the climate issue and thus is in the public interest of Egypt and the participating countries. .
