The 15th edition of “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023” will be launched from January 14 to 19, under the slogan “Together to promote climate action up to the COP28 conference”, to hold a series of constructive dialogues to contribute to achieving climate neutrality in the future, under the patronage of the Head of State. The Emirates News Agency (WAM) stated that the week is a global initiative launched by the UAE and hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar. The week is expected to include a series of high-level sessions to focus on sustainable development priorities before the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention. On climate change in the UAE next November, noting that the main concerned parties will discuss the need to involve all segments of society and those concerned with climate affairs, and how to benefit and build on the first global assessment of the Paris Agreement to accelerate progress efforts in the field of climate action during the conference and beyond.
For his part, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change and Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Masdar” Company, said that Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week highlights 15 years ago the UAE’s firm commitment to facing global challenges, and reflects its pioneering role in advancing climate action efforts. and promoting sustainable economic development.
Al Jaber stressed the pivotal role of the “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023” in ensuring that the momentum of global interest and efforts related to sustainability and climate action is maintained until the convening of the Conference of the Parties “COP28” by uniting the efforts of the international community and promoting pioneering partnerships and innovative solutions.
