Planting 485,000 trees as part of President Sisi’s initiative to plant 100 million trees

The Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced that the Desert Research Center and the Central Administration of Afforestation and the Production Sector of the Agricultural Research Center donated 185,000 trees to the governorates within the framework of the initiative of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to plant 100 million trees and coinciding with Egypt’s hosting of the climate summit cop27, which will start its activities tomorrow From Sharm El-Sheikh, and will continue until November 18

Al-Qusayr added that the Ministry of Agriculture, through the Central Department of Reforestation, has planted 300,000 trees in some tree forests and the areas surrounding the nurseries affiliated with the Ministry, within the framework of the President of the Republic’s initiative, which receives great interest from the Egyptian state, through the expansion of afforestation due to its importance. Numerous environmental, aesthetic and economic benefits, taking into account the planting of trees in appropriate places and in appropriate numbers that will perform their aesthetic and environmental role and reduce the negative effects of climate change.

Al-Qusayr indicated that the initiative aims to double the per capita share of green spaces nationwide, improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gases, achieve maximum economic benefit from trees, and improve the public health of citizens.

For his part, Dr. Alaa Azouz, Head of the Agricultural Extension Sector, said that the “100 Million Trees” initiative can be used as a useful investment that contributes to reducing climate change.

He added that the positive returns and effects expected from the implementation of the initiative contribute to reducing the effect of global warming by getting rid of carbon dioxide, releasing oxygen, reducing the air temperature, purifying the air and improving its quality, while contributing to a decrease in soil erosion, as well as preserving biological diversity of birds, insects and animals, which leads to To improve the biodiversity of agricultural areas as well as prevent water run-off and conserve soil

It is worth noting that Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, during the Council meeting last Wednesday, had witnessed the signing ceremony of two agreement contracts, between the Ministry of Local Development on the one hand, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and the Ministry of State for Military Production, represented by the “Al-Masara” Industries Company. Engineering, on the other hand, regarding the supply of about 5 million trees to be planted in the governorates, in the presence of Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Mr. / Al-Sayed Al-Qaseer, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development.

The two contracts of the agreement were signed by: Engineer Muhammad Al-Sayed Abu Jaour, Assistant Minister of Local Development for Planning, Dr. Alaa Azouz, Head of the Agricultural Extension Sector at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and Engineer Abdel Moneim Abdel Hamid Hindawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Al-Maasara” Company for Engineering Industries, affiliated to the Ministry of State for Military Production.
