Mahmoud Mohieldin welcomes the appointment of “Razan Al Mubarak” as the climate pioneer for the twenty-eighth conference of the parties

Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, Climate Pioneer for the Egyptian Presidency of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP27) and the United Nations Special Envoy for Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, welcomed the appointment of His Excellency Ms. Razan Al Mubarak, the United Nations High-level Climate Pioneer, to the Emirati Presidency of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP28).

Mohieldin said, “During this vital and important year for international climate action, I am honored to cooperate with Ms. Razan Al Mubarak to push for stronger and more ambitious climate action at the level of non-state actors with the aim of achieving the goals and objectives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, which are reflected in the Sharm el-Sheikh map for the implementation of climate action, especially in achieving the historic agreement in the file of losses and damages.

Mohieldin expressed his aspiration for constructive and fruitful cooperation with Mubarak in order to build the necessary momentum to achieve tangible progress in the efforts of non-governmental parties to serve climate issues on the international agenda, especially in the areas of financing and new investments in the areas of mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
