Expectations of an increase in coal consumption during 2023 .. and an economist: the most polluting of the environment

The International Energy Agency expected that coal consumption will increase by the beginning of 2023, and it may reach its highest levels, in light of the global crisis, as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

A report by the agency revealed that global coal consumption will likely increase by 1.2% in 2022, to exceed 8 billion tons in one year for the highest time ever.

The agency added that this rate will likely continue until 2025, as the decline in coal demand in advanced economies will be offset by an increase in demand from emerging Asian markets such as China and India.

In the context, Eng. Medhat Youssef, former vice president of the Egyptian Petroleum Corporation, says that coal is an energy source, and that it is the most polluting of the environment and the highest in carbon dioxide output, which is primarily responsible for climate change.
