The Central Administration for the Improvement of the Industrial Environment and Energy formed a committee to conduct a full study of the foundries in the Kom al-Ahmar area and its dependencies in the Oseem Center in Giza Governorate, within the framework of the directives of Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, to apply cleaner production mechanisms in manufacturing operations.
Actions taken
According to a press release, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy of Giza Governorate to assess the environmental status of foundries in the region, in the presence of representatives of some research agencies specialized in industrial activity, and representatives of foundries in the Kom Al-Ahmar area.
An integrated study to assess the environmental situation
The committee carried out an integrated study to assess the environmental situation on the foundries in the region and the serious negative effects that result from them and threaten the public health of the Egyptian citizen. Environmental rehabilitation in their places or moving them to an approved industrial zone, and defining the role of the various parties to implement the best environmental solutions.
Comprehensive survey of foundries
The committee also participated in field inspections and conducting a comprehensive survey of the foundries by the Central Administration for the Improvement of the Industrial Environment and Energy to find out the environmental status of the 44 foundries in the region in terms of improving the environmental situation for them in the region and to identify the foundries that need to be moved to an industrial area.
