President El-Sisi affirms Egypt’s full solidarity with the Syrian and Turkish peoples, and Egypt’s readiness to provide assistance

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi offered his sincere condolences to the people of Syria and Turkey, and to the families of the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck the eastern Mediterranean region, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, reported that President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with the Syrian and Turkish peoples, and Egypt’s readiness to provide assistance to face the effects of that earthquake.

A strong 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit large areas of Turkey and Syria early Monday morning, toppling hundreds of buildings and killing more than 1,500 people. Hundreds are believed to be still trapped under the rubble, and the death toll is expected to rise as rescue workers search through the piles. Wreckage in cities and towns across the region.
