“ After the selection by a local and international jury of the 100 winners of the Startupper of the Year Challenge, in the 32 participating countries, the local winners of this special edition organized on the occasion of the Company’s centenary were honored during an official prize-giving ceremony that took place on 23rd of October 2024 in Cairo, Egypt.
The three local winners of the Startupper of the Year Challenge in Egypt are:
• Esraa Abdallah in the Innov’Up category for best entrepreneur with Super Abla: Ultimate platform for teaching Arabic to kids aged 2 to 8 years old, using their daily language and connecting it to culture, history, and Geography.
• Mohamed Aboklela in the Cycle’Up category for best circular economy project with Tilestic: Developed an industrial process and chemical compound to recycle single-use plastic waste into eco-friendly building materials such as interlocking tiles, paver tiles, and roof tiles.
• Abdallah Kamel in the Power’Up category for best sustainable and affordable project with Viridi: Offers innovative portable EV chargers with high power capacity, wide compatibility, and advanced safety features, offering reliable and flexible charging for EV owners.
In order to help them develop their project, these young entrepreneurs will receive a significant grant. They will also be given personalized support to develop their projects thanks to Ashoka Arab World, along with local visibility to boost awareness of their plans.
In Egypt, 180 registrations were submitted, of which 77 were complete applications, with 15 finalists pitching their project to a local panel of experts.
