Environmental expert: Threats of extinction of one million species out of 8.1 million

Dr. Abdel-Masih Samaan, Professor of Environmental Studies and Climate Change, said that the threat of extinction of one million species out of 8.1 million is a serious matter, as biodiversity means all kinds of living organisms, whether plant or animal or even microorganisms, composed to preserve Forms of life on the globe, pointing out that scientists have described 10 to 30 million species, but only about 2.3 million species have actually been reached.

Preserving biodiversity is essential for areas as diverse as medicine and food

Samaan added, in a televised intervention, that the preservation of biological diversity is necessary for various fields such as medicine, food, industry and environmental systems, pointing out that President Sisi was keen in all the speeches he delivered at biological diversity conferences to confirm Egypt’s establishment of an effective system for preserving biological diversity, as Egypt now has more out of 30 reserves.

The whole world is now witnessing the extinction of many species as a result of climate changes

The professor of environmental studies and climate change explained that the whole world is now witnessing the extinction of many species as a result of climatic changes, since every living creature of God Almighty’s creation lives in an environment that has a certain specificity, pointing to the importance and presence of living organisms that maintain the balance of the biological system on Earth. Every living being has a relationship with another living being to achieve the natural balance between all beings on the surface of the earth.
